Hello all! Welcome to my FAQ page! I'm sure some of you have questions about how the forum works.
BASIC INTRO TO THE FORUM
Welcome to the Site of Shadows forum, I will be your guide, SapphireCobra. I’m guessing since you are reading this, you have either recently joined, thinking about joining, or if you’re just reading this for the heck of it, you most likely enjoy Wicca/Witchcraft/Paganism/etc. Anyway, we welcome you and we hope you have the greatest time here. Please read the stuff here if you are new and not sure what to do, especially if you are new to Proboards.
Basics
Q: What is this forum for?
A: This forum is for discussing topics about Wicca/Witchcraft/Paganism. There are different sections on this forum called “Boards” that have different topics together. Remember to post in the right spot, or I will have to move your thread.
Q: What is a thread?
A: A thread is a topic that you or another person starts up. Threads have specific topics, such as a “Favorite Goddess” Thread in the Goddesses board.
Q: Are there any different boards besides Wicca/Witchcraft/Paganism?
A: Yeah! We have Off-Topic discussion where you can talk about whatever. Just don’t get spammy.
Q: …spammy?
A: Spamming is BAD. It’s where you post stupid pointless annoying messages. If you don’t contribute to the thread and multi-post a lot, you are spamming. It makes the whole thread crazy and annoying to read.
Q: What is multi-posting?
A: Multi-posting is where you post a message, and you right away post something else right after it on the same thread, not letting anyone else reply. You’ll know when you’ve multi-posted, because your posts will be right after another. Do you see that pretty little modify button at the top right hand corner of your post? Click that instead of Multi-posting, and you can add or edit anything you’ve just posted. Nifty, huh?
Q: Forum Tags?
Forum tags enable members to add pics, underlined text, etc. to their posts/signatures. For example, here's how you bold text (take out the spaces): [ b ] Whatever you wanna say goes here. [ / b ] - Whatever you wanna say goes here.
YOU’RE HERE, NOW WHAT?
So, you’ve decided to join the forum. Awesome for you! And for those who haven’t—Why not? I mean it’s great here! You get your own stars, nifty little rank things, and personal ranks… All that awesome stuff you can’t do or have as a guest.
Q: How old do I have to be to join?
A: It is required for you to be 13 to join according to proboards, but if you are younger than that, please get parental permission.
Q: You people scare me! How do I introduce myself without looking stupid??
A: Don’t sweat it, we’re not all that scary. Just crazy! And you can just say hi and stuff. We won’t hurt you.
Avatars
Q: What’s an avvy? (Avatar)
A: An Avvy or an Avatar is the little picture in the left of your post. The maximum size for your avvy is 100x100 pixels. If it is not, it will be automatically resized for you.
Q: How do I get an avvy?
A: First you must have a picture you want as an avvy uploaded. Take the URL of the image and paste it into the little space in the “Modify Profile” section in your profile.
Q: I have another question about avatars.
A: Either ask your question it in the questions thread or personally email or PM me for any other questions.
Signatures
Q. What’s a signature?
A. It’s some kind of message or whatever that is displayed underneath every post you create. However, you can disable this function if you want to with you modify your profile.
Q. Can I put pictures in my signature?
A. Yes.
Q. I’ve got this cool picture, but the file is very large. Can I still place it as my signature?
A. Sure. The dimensions of the picture really doesn’t matter (unless it’s a super long one that’ll stretch the window a bunch and is super annoying), but if by very large… you mean like a crap load of bytes to load… then no. A few people here still have dialup, so one should respect the slowness of their connection and how laggy your picture may be.
Personal Text
Q. What’s a personal text? *drooling with confuzzled look on face*
A. Well, it’s a text that’ll appear underneath your avatar! You can make it say whatever you wish… as long as it isn’t stupid, sexual, swearing, and other stuff. You know what’s wrong and what’s right.
Q. Can this text be personal?
A. Where are you going to school?
Posts
Q. Post count makes me popular!
A. WRONG! Post count means NOTHING! Actually, it does express how active of a poster you are, but it does not mean you are a regular. If you spam for post count, the important people (aka SapphireCobra and the mods) may/will embarrass you and mess around with your profiles, signatures, and other stuff! Don’t spam… you’ll become a regular if you are smart and have remarkable comments and junk (and not suck ups and all that fake crap).
Q. I have the urge to double post because my last post had something amiss… and I didn’t feel like reading the rules above to tell me what exactly to do when I can’t double post.
A. Modify your post by clicking modify.
Q. I’m funny… thus I will make pointless remarks such as COOOOOLLL!!!!11111eleventyone1111!!1111!
A. This is considered SPAM and shows how stupid you really are. Plus, you’ll get banned if you continue! How cool is that!? It isn’t? THEN DON’T DO IT! (DON'T EVEN TRY ME.)
PM (Personal Messaging)
Q. What is Personal Messaging?
A. Think of it as email… but on the forum. Personal messaging is when you sent a message to a specific person.
Smilies
Q. What are Smilies?
A. Smilies are little icons that you can put into your message to express a variety of emotions & feelings. If smilies are enabled, a list of smilies provided by the forum will be listed above the message box where you type your message and stuff. Clicking on a smiley will magically insert that smiley into your message. Trippy, eh? Common smilies may automatically be replaced with their corresponding images. If you do not wish for that to happen, click on the Disable Smilies checkbox.
Q. I feel sad… why are these called Smilies if I’m sad?
A. …This is an example of a DUMB QUESTION! Use your freakin’ head!

Courtesy For Image Size
So yeah. You decide to insert an image into your signature… and the size is too large. You upload it anyway, and now you’ve got this large picture in your signature, stretching the window and junk… making other people annoyed and have to use their mouse to stroll from side-to-side just to read something. Let’s avoid having TOO large images in signatures for they can stretch the window, making it difficult for one to read long comments and posts. It’s fine to have large pictures in your signature, but let’s at least make an effort and either resize the picture or find something else. Think about your neighbor! ^_^
Problems
Trouble Between You and Other Members
If you are having any problems with other members then PM the mods. If you want to keep the situation private (kept a secret only between the people involved), then the mod(s) will decide whether or not to do so (it depends on how serious the problem is). Then the mod(s) will try his/her/their best to solve the problem.
"*GASP!* A bad in-appropriate stupid post!"
You may report the spammy/multi-posty/annoying posts to at least one of the mods (through a PM to make it private). Sometimes the mods may not find them because this forum has grown so much. So yeah... Already some members have done so and it helps. ^_^
I will edit if need be...
